The problem

You can rank first and still be invisible.

Google's AI Overview now answers the question above the ten blue links, and it quotes only a handful of pages. If your page is not readable and quotable, the click can go to a cited competitor further down. Being eligible is the new front row, and most pages miss on the same few signals.

Blocked at the doorrobots.txt keeps Googlebot out, so your page never enters the index AI Overviews are built from.
The answer is buriedThe page has the answer, but it sits under a long preamble Google cannot lift cleanly into the box.
Nothing labels the answerNo schema and no clear headings, so Google cannot tell which part of the page answers the query.

We read the AI signals

We fetch the live page, its robots.txt and llms.txt, and test the six signals Google uses to build an AI Overview.

Get a score and fixes

A weighted 0-100 readiness score, a pass or fail on every signal, and the fixes ordered by how many points each one is worth.

Glossary

What these words mean

AI Overview

The AI-written answer box at the top of many Google results, above the blue links. It quotes a few pages and links back to them.

The answer, before result one

Readiness score

A weighted 0-100 of the signals Google uses to build an Overview. Higher means your page is easier to read and to quote.

80 or higher is strong

Googlebot

The crawler that builds Google's search index. AI Overviews are drawn from that index, so Googlebot has to be allowed to fetch your page.

Blocked in robots.txt means out

Google-Extended

A separate robots.txt control for whether Google may use your content to train and ground Gemini. It does not decide Search or Overview inclusion.

Not the same as Googlebot

Structured data

Schema.org labels in JSON-LD that tell Google what your page is. FAQ, HowTo and Article markup flag which part is the answer.

FAQPage marks a Q and A

Clear answer up front

A short, self-contained answer in the opening, before the detail, so Google can lift it straight into the box.

40 to 600 characters, answer first
One number

A weighted readiness score, 0-100.

Every signal Google leans on is scored and weighted, then rolled into one number you can act on. It tells you at a glance whether your page is set up to be cited, or at risk of being skipped.

  • Each signal weighted by how much it moves eligibility
  • A pass or fail on every check, with a reason
  • The same 0-100 read on any page you paste

Rule of thumb: 80 and up is strong, 55 to 79 is partly ready, and below 55 usually means a crawler block or an answer Google cannot read.

Six signals

The exact signals Google weighs.

The score is not a black box. It comes from six signals that add up to 100 points, and you can see how much each one is worth, so you know which fix makes a real difference most.

  • Crawler access and structured data carry the most, 20 points each
  • A clear answer up front is worth 18, the last three 14 each
  • Miss a heavy signal and the score tells you first

Why it works: AI Overviews are built from Google's index and favour pages it can parse. Access and machine-readable structure weigh most because they decide whether Google can use your page at all.

Pass, fail, fix

See what passes, and what to fix first.

Every check comes back as a pass or a fail with the reason in plain words, and the failed ones are ranked by point impact, so the top of the list is always the change that moves your score the most.

  • A pass or fail on each of the six eligibility signals
  • Failed signals ranked by how many points they are worth
  • A concrete, do-this-next reason on every row

Pro tip: work the list top down. One fix at the top can lift the whole page across a tier, while three small ones lower down often do not.

How to read a result, signal by signal.

A score only helps if you know what to do with it. Here is the exact read on our example page, northpeak.io/guide/cart-abandonment, the way an experienced SEO would think it through.

68 /100Score
Partly ready. Google can find the page, but it is not yet the cleanest answer to lift. The failed rows below are the punch list, in order.
AllowedCrawler
The ticket is punched. Googlebot can crawl the page, so it sits in the index AI Overviews draw from. Nothing to do on this one.
+18Top fix pts
Lead with the answer. The opening runs long before it gets to the point. Move a one-sentence answer to the top so Google can quote it. This is worth the most, so it goes first.
+14Next fix pts
Show it is current. There is no visible publish or updated date, so the depth the page already has does not count as fresh. Add a date and it starts working for you.
86After one fix
Fix the buried answer and the score jumps 68 to 86, from partly ready into strong. That is one edit, ranked to the top for you, that turns a page Google skips into one it can quote.
Where it shines

Built for teams that want the answer box.

Founders

Get quoted without out-spending anyone

You cannot out-link the incumbents, but you can be the page Google lifts. Check whether you are even eligible, then fix the exact reasons you are not.

SEO leads

Know why a rival is cited and you are not

Stop guessing. Get a pass or fail on every eligibility signal, ranked by impact, so you walk in with specifics instead of a hunch.

Content teams

Write pages built to be lifted

Turn each failed signal into a rule for the next draft: answer first, structure the headings, mark up the page. Every post ships answer-ready.

Agencies

Hand clients a punch list, not a hunch

Run any URL and give the client a ranked set of fixes with a score to move, then re-check to show the before and after.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

Not exactly. This measures readiness, whether Google can read your page and is set up to cite it. It does not read the live Overview for a query. A high score means you have cleared the eligibility bar Google selects from, which is what you control.

No. Every signal passes or fails with a reason, and the fixes are ranked so you know what to do next. Paste a URL and start at the top of the list.

No. Google-Extended is a separate robots.txt control that governs whether Google may use your content to train and ground Gemini. AI Overviews are built from Google's normal search index, so it is Googlebot access that decides eligibility here.

Six weighted signals that add up to 100: crawler access and structured data at 20 each, a clear answer up front at 18, and heading structure, question format, and freshness and depth at 14 each. We read your live page, robots.txt and llms.txt to score them.

This checks whether Google can read and is allowed to cite your page. The paid product tracks the next question, whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude actually name you, how you compare to competitors, and how it trends, alongside the rest of the platform's 60+ SEO and AI-search tools.

Treat it as a habit. Overviews shift as Google reweighs its sources, so re-check the pages that matter monthly, and again after any real rewrite, to catch a lost slot while you can still respond.
