Automation and monitoring
Everything Metric Vault does on its own schedule — competitor watching, rank checks, recurring reports and alerts — and where to set each one up.

Summary#
Most of Metric Vault runs when you press a button. This section covers the part that runs when you are not there: pages watched for changes, keywords re-checked against Google, reports that come due on a cadence, brand visibility measured across AI models, and social posts that publish at a set time. Each one is something you configure once and then read the results of.
Overview#
Automation in Metric Vault is built from a small number of moving parts, and they all behave the same way.
You register a thing to watch. A URL, a keyword, a brand, a report schedule, a post. It is saved to your workspace, so teammates in the same workspace see it too. See What teammates share.
Metric Vault re-checks it on an interval. The scheduler wakes on a fifteen-minute cycle and processes whatever has become due. Nothing runs more often than its own interval allows, and each pass has a cap on how many items it handles, so a large list drains over several cycles rather than all at once.
A result is recorded, and you are told. Every automated check writes what it found. Anything worth your attention appears in the notifications feed behind the bell icon, and reaches Slack, a webhook or email when those channels are stored on the item.
Start with What runs automatically if you want the whole picture in one page, or go straight to the feature you need below.
Understand what runs#
- What runs automatically — the four background jobs in plain terms: what runs, how often, and what you get from each.
- Automation limits and frequency — the exact intervals, per-pass caps and throttles, in table form.
Watch competitors#
- Competitor monitor — add a competitor URL, what gets captured on each visit, how changes are graded, and how to read the change feed.
- AI prompt tracking — track how AI assistants describe a brand over time, with custom prompts, comparisons and drop alerts.
Track rankings#
- Rank alerts — pick the keywords that matter, set a drop threshold, and get told when you slip.
- Rank tracker — a one-run picture of everything a domain ranks for, with a twelve-month visibility trend, wins and losses.
Put reports and posts on a schedule#
- Scheduled reports — create a recurring report, choose a cadence, and understand exactly what fires when it comes due.
- Scheduled social posts — queue a social post for a future time, watch the queue, and cancel before it goes out.
- Editorial workflow and calendar — plan and assign content across a calendar.
Read and manage the alerts#
- Notifications and alerts hub — the full-page feed of every alert, with filters and mark-all-read.
- Every notification you can receive — the complete inventory of what Metric Vault can send you, and which preference controls each one.
- Notification preferences — the four notification switches on your account.
When something did not arrive#
- Why didn't my alert fire? — diagnosing a missing alert or report, end to end.
- My scheduled report never arrived — a scheduled report that never reached an inbox.
