Invoices and receipts

Your invoice history lives in the secure billing portal, reached from Account with the Manage Billing button. Here is how to open it and download a receipt.

Last updated 2026-08-06

Summary#

Every invoice and receipt for your Metric Vault subscription is available in the billing portal, which you reach with the Manage Billing button on the Account screen. The portal is operated by Stripe, our payment processor, and it is where the payment method, billing address and invoice history all live. You do not need a support request to get a copy of anything.

Purpose#

Finance teams need documents, not screenshots: a dated invoice with the company name and address on it, downloadable at any time, for any period. Rather than building a second copy of that inside Metric Vault, we hand it to the payment processor that issued the charge. That means one authoritative record, PCI-grade handling of card details, and no chance of the app showing a figure that disagrees with what was billed.

It also means Metric Vault itself stores no invoice, no card and no billing address. The only billing fact held on your account is which plan it is on.

Requirements#

  • A paid subscription. There is nothing to invoice on the Free plan.
  • You must be signed in with the email address the subscription was bought under. This is the single most common reason the portal appears empty.

Permissions#

The portal opens for the account whose email address holds the subscription. There is no separate billing-manager role in Metric Vault and no way to grant a teammate portal access from inside the product: whoever signs in with the subscription's email address can open it.

A teammate signed in with their own address, on an account with no subscription of its own, will see this instead:

You are not on a paid subscription yet, so there is no billing to manage.

Pick a plan with the Upgrade button and your invoices, payment method and cancellation options will appear here.

If several people need the documents, download them once and share them, or put a shared finance address on the subscription as the billing email. More on team arrangements in Team and workspace billing.

Step-by-Step Guide#

  1. Sign in to the dashboard with the email address on the subscription.
  2. Click your avatar in the top right and choose Account.
  3. Find the Subscription card. It shows your plan, its price and what the plan includes.
  4. Click Manage Billing. The button changes to Opening… while the session is created.
  5. You are taken to the secure billing portal in the same tab.
  6. Open the invoice history. Each invoice can be viewed and downloaded as a PDF.
  7. Use the browser back action or the portal's return link to come back to the dashboard.

Getting the right details on your invoice#

Add your company name, address and tax ID in the portal before the next invoice is issued. Those details are taken at the moment an invoice is created, so adding them today does not rewrite documents that were issued last month.

If you need a past invoice corrected or reissued, email support@metricvaultai.com with the invoice number and the details you need on it. There is no self-serve way to reissue an invoice.

What tax is and is not applied is covered in Tax, VAT and currency.

Examples#

Example

Example: A finance manager needs all of last year's invoices for an audit. The subscription is under the founder's email address, so the founder signs in, opens Account → Manage Billing, downloads each invoice PDF from the history, and then changes the billing email in the portal to accounts@theircompany.com so future invoices go straight to finance.

Tips#

  • Change the billing email in the portal to a finance alias so receipts arrive where they are needed without forwarding.
  • Download invoices as you go rather than in a rush at year end.
  • The portal is the only place the payment method can be changed. Support cannot take card details, and will never ask for them.

Common Mistakes#

  • Signing in with the wrong address. A subscription bought under a personal address will not appear on a work account, and vice versa.
  • Expecting invoices inside Metric Vault. The app shows your plan and usage; the portal shows the money.
  • Adding the tax ID after the invoice. Details are captured when the invoice is created.

Limitations#

  • Metric Vault does not email invoices itself and does not store copies.
  • There is no invoice list, receipt view or billing history screen inside the dashboard.
  • Purchase order numbers and custom invoice fields are not self-serve. They are arranged as part of a custom agreement; see Enterprise and custom agreements.
  • Nothing is shown in the app after a successful checkout beyond the plan updating, so treat the portal's invoice history as your record of purchase.

FAQs#

Where are my invoices? In the billing portal, reached with Manage Billing on the Account screen.

Does Metric Vault email me a receipt? Not from the app itself. Your invoices are downloadable from the billing portal at any time, and any emailed receipt or payment notice comes from Stripe, our payment processor, to the billing email on the subscription.

Can I add my VAT or tax ID? Yes, in the portal, under the customer details. It appears on invoices issued after you add it. See Tax, VAT and currency.

Can a teammate download the invoices? Only by signing in with the address that holds the subscription. There is no delegated billing access in the product.

Can I get an invoice for the Free plan? No. Nothing is charged, so nothing is invoiced.

Is my card stored by Metric Vault? No. Payment details are handled entirely by Stripe. Metric Vault never sees or stores them.

I need a purchase order number on the invoice. That is arranged as part of a custom agreement. Email sales@metricvaultai.com.
