The guided tour

Summary#

The first time you reach the dashboard, a short walkthrough starts on its own. It dims the screen, highlights one part of the interface at a time, and explains what it is for, across six steps. You move with Next, go back with Back, and leave at any point with Skip or the Escape key. It runs once per browser and is not required; nothing is locked until you complete it.

Purpose#

The dashboard has a lot on it, and a new visitor cannot tell which parts matter. The tour picks the six things that most change how you use the product, and points at each one in place rather than describing it in a help article you would have to go and find.

It is deliberately short. Six steps take under a minute, and it never repeats itself uninvited.

Requirements#

• A signed-in session. The tour refuses to start while the sign-in gate is on screen, so it never appears over the "Sign in to continue" card.
• The dashboard home screen open. The tour waits for it before starting.
• A browser that allows local storage, which is where "you have seen this" is recorded. In a private window that clears storage, the tour will start again on each visit.

Permissions#

Available on every plan, including Free. There is nothing to enable and no administrator setting that turns it on or off for a team. Each person sees it once, in each browser they use.

Step-by-Step Guide#

1. Wait a moment after your first sign-in. Once the home screen has rendered, the screen dims and the first tip appears beside the left-hand navigation.
2. Read the tip and press Next. Each tip has a small icon, a category label, a heading, a paragraph, and a row of dots showing how far through you are.
3. Move back if you want to. From step two onwards, a Back button appears in place of Skip.
4. Finish. On the last step, the forward button reads Done. Pressing it ends the tour and records that you have seen it.
5. Or leave early. Press Skip on the first step, press Escape at any point, or click anywhere on the dimmed background. The overlay's own tooltip says "Click to skip". Leaving early counts as having seen it, so it will not reappear.

The keys#

What the six steps cover#

Three of the six carry facts worth keeping:

• Step 2 tells you to press Ctrl + K to jump to any tool. That is the single most useful habit in the product. See The command palette (Ctrl+K).
• Step 3 explains that a workflow "runs 5-10 tools in one click and returns a single consolidated report in about 1 to 3 minutes". The six workflows live in the Get Started section.
• Step 6 tells you the assistant is reachable with Ctrl + / from any screen, not just from its own page. See Analyst AI.

Behavior worth knowing#

• It skips what it cannot see. If a step's target is not on screen, for example because you are on a narrow window where the tool panel is hidden, that step is passed over rather than pointing at nothing.
• It hides floating buttons. The assistant bubble and any other floating controls are hidden while the tour runs, except the one the current step is pointing at, so they do not sit on top of the tip.
• It respects reduced motion. If your operating system is set to reduce motion, the tour's transitions are switched off.
• It records completion when it ends, by any route: Done, Skip, Escape, or a click on the background.

Restarting it#

FAQs#

Do I have to complete it before using the product? No. Nothing is gated behind it. Skip it and everything still works.

Will it appear again on another computer? Yes. Completion is recorded per browser, so signing in on a new device or a different browser shows it once more.

Can I turn it off for my team? There is no administrator setting for it. Each person can dismiss it in one click.
