My Reports

The My Reports screen, its New Report picker, its six report templates, and how it relates to the Saved Work list that holds your actual runs.

Last updated 2026-08-06

Summary#

My Reports is the starting point for producing a report rather than the list of reports you already have. Its New Report button opens a picker that explains six common report types, tells you what data each one uses and what you get back, and then takes you to the tool that produces it. The full list of runs you can reopen lives in Saved Work.

Purpose#

New users hit a specific wall: they know they want "a report", but not which of seventy tools produces the report they mean. Naming tools does not help, because the names describe mechanisms, not deliverables.

The report picker solves that by describing outcomes. Each card states the purpose, the data source, the four things you receive and the one thing you have to provide. You pick the outcome, and the app opens the right tool with the cursor in the right field. It is the "choose what to create" step that the tool list on its own cannot give you.

Requirements#

  • A signed-in account.
  • Credits for whichever tool you end up running. The picker itself costs nothing.
  • No plan requirement to open the screen.

Permissions#

Any signed-in user can open My Reports and the picker on any plan. What you can actually run afterwards depends on your plan and remaining credits, and the tool itself enforces that. See Quotas and rate limits.

Dashboard → Track & Report → My Reports

It is also in the user menu in the top right, listed as My Reports.

Step-by-Step Guide#

Create a report from the picker#

  1. Open Dashboard → Track & Report → My Reports.
  2. Press New Report at the top right. The picker opens, titled Choose a report to create, with the note that each report runs a live analysis and saves an export-ready result to your library.
  3. Read the card for the report you want. Each card shows the purpose, a data-source line, a What you receive list, and a You provide line.
  4. Press Generate report on that card. The picker closes, the matching tool opens, and the page scrolls to its input field and focuses it.
  5. Type your target and run the tool as normal. See How to run a tool.
  6. The finished result saves itself. Find it later in Saved Work. See Saved Work.

The picker traps keyboard focus while it is open, so Tab cycles inside it, and Escape or the close button dismisses it.

The six report types#

Each one opens the matching tool: Domain Overview, Site Audit, Competitor Battle, Brand Monitor, Backlink Profile and Keyword Explorer. Their credit costs are listed in Credit cost table.

The rest of the screen#

Below the header, My Reports is laid out in four bands:

BandContents
CountersReports Generated, Domains Analyzed, Avg SEO Score and Latest Run
Report AnalyticsTwo cards, Report Score Trend and Report Mix by Category
Saved ReportsThe auto-saved reports band, with a Generate your first report button in its empty state
Report TemplatesSix cards, each with an Open Template button

Report Templates is the quickest route into a tool when you already know what you want and do not need the picker's explanation. Pressing Open Template takes you straight to the tool: Domain Overview, Full Site Audit, Competitor Battle, Brand Monitoring, Backlink Audit and Keyword Research, in that order.

Report Score Trend and Report Mix by Category carry the notes "Run a report to start tracking score over time." and "Your report categories will break down here." until there is analysis history to chart.

The Saved Reports band explains that running any tool saves its report automatically. For the working list of those reports, with search, filtering, reopening and deletion, go to Library → Saved Work. That is the screen documented in Saved Work, and it is where every saved run can be opened for free.

Tip

Tip: The Generate your first report button in the Saved Reports band starts a new report from where you are, so you never have to scroll back to the top of the screen. Depending on what the band has loaded it either opens the same picker as New Report, or asks you for a domain and runs a Domain Overview on it.

Examples#

Example

Example: A new client asks for "an SEO report". You open My Reports, press New Report, and read the Domain Overview card: organic traffic, authority, top pages and competitors, from live DataForSEO, in exchange for one domain. That is the deliverable they meant, so you press Generate report, type their domain, and run it.

Example

Example: You already know you want a backlink audit. Skip the picker and press Open Template on the Backlink Audit card, which drops you straight into Backlink Profile.

Tips#

  • Use the picker when you are choosing, and the templates when you already know.
  • The You provide line on each card is the fastest check that you have the input the report needs before you spend credits.
  • If you will want this report again on a cadence, set it up as a schedule instead of repeating it by hand. See Scheduled reports.

Best Practices#

  • Read the What you receive list before generating. It is the cheapest way to avoid running the wrong tool.
  • Run the report, then export it in the format the recipient actually reads. See Exporting results.
  • Keep the retrieval habit in one place: reports are created here, but they are found in Saved Work.

Common Mistakes#

  • Expecting the Saved Reports band to be the retrieval screen. The reopenable, searchable list of your runs is Library → Saved Work.
  • Treating a template as a different product. A template opens an ordinary tool; the run costs the same as running that tool from the sidebar.
  • Ignoring the country selector. The topbar country applies to the run you are about to start from here, exactly as it does anywhere else.

Limitations#

  • The picker offers six report types. Every other tool is reached from the sidebar or the command palette. See The command palette (Ctrl+K).
  • There is no report builder: you cannot combine several tools into one custom document from this screen. The nearest equivalent is a workflow, which runs several tools and returns one consolidated report. See Competitor Intelligence.
  • The counters and the two analytics charts populate from your recorded analysis history and stay at their placeholder values until that history exists.

FAQs#

What is the difference between My Reports and Saved Work? My Reports is where you decide what to create. Saved Work is where everything you have created is stored and reopened. See Saved Work.

Does the picker cost credits? No. Opening it and reading the cards is free. The tool you then run costs its normal credits; see Credit cost table.

Can I add my own template? No. The six report types are fixed. Any other tool is one search away in the command palette.

Do the templates produce a different output from running the tool directly? No. A template is a shortcut into the tool, and the result is identical.

How do I get this report every month without doing it by hand? Create a schedule. See Scheduled reports.
