Plan capability matrix
What each plan includes, separated into the lines the platform enforces automatically and the lines it publishes as an allowance.
Last updated 2026-08-06
Summary#
This page answers a narrower question than the pricing page does: for each capability, which plan unlocks it, and does the platform check that automatically or is it a published allowance we ask you to work within? Both kinds are real commitments, but only one of them will stop you mid-click, and support needs to know which is which before promising a customer anything.
Overview#
Five plans are sold and one more exists behind the scenes.
| Plan | Sold on the pricing page | Monthly credits | Invited teammates | Total seats |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Yes | 0 | 0 | 1 |
| Starter | No | 100 | 0 | 1 |
| Pro | Yes | 500 | 4 | 5 |
| Agency | Yes | 2,000 | 14 | 15 |
| Enterprise | Yes | 10,000 | Effectively unlimited | Effectively unlimited |
| Custom | Yes, as "contact sales" | Agreed with sales | Agreed with sales | Agreed with sales |
Starter is a real, billable plan. It has live prices and can be reached by checkout, and existing customers are on it, but no card for it appears on the pricing page. If a customer says they are on Starter, believe them and check the Account screen. See Plans and pricing.
Custom is a commercial agreement, not a separate tier. It is fulfilled by configuring one of the plans above with agreed figures.
Published prices, monthly and annual:
| Plan | Monthly | Annual, per month |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 |
| Starter | $19 | Not published |
| Pro | $79 | $63 |
| Agency | $249 | $199 |
| Enterprise | $749 | $599 |
Quote Starter as $19 monthly and nothing else. It has a working annual checkout price, but no annual figure for it is published anywhere in the product, and Starter has no card on the pricing page at all. This table used to print an annual figure for it, which is exactly the number Plans and pricing tells you not to give a customer.
Plans are ranked, and every "minimum plan" check below compares against this order. Free sits below Starter, so a feature requiring Starter is unavailable on Free.
Free < Starter < Pro < Agency < EnterpriseEnforced automatically#
These are checked at the moment you act. If your plan is below the minimum, the action is refused and the message quoted here is what you see. Nothing is charged when a gate refuses.
| Capability | Minimum plan | What happens below it |
|---|---|---|
| Any tool costing credits | Any paid plan | This tool needs a paid plan. Free includes the 10 technical SEO tools; upgrade to Pro to unlock the rest. |
| The monthly credit allowance | All plans | Runs costing 3 credits or more stop when the allowance is spent: You've used all <N> premium reports on the <PLAN> plan this month. Light tools (keyword research, SERP, content, technical audits) keep working. Quota resets on <date> (<in N days>). Upgrade to continue using premium reports now. |
| Team invitations | Pro | Team invites require the Pro plan or higher. Your account is on Starter. |
| Team seat count | Pro 4 invites, Agency 14, Enterprise effectively unlimited | Team seat limit reached (<cap> members on the <Plan> plan). Upgrade for more seats. |
| Scheduled reports | Starter | This feature requires the Starter plan. Your account is on <Plan>. Upgrade to unlock it. The scheduling screen shows Weekly scheduling is available on paid plans. Upgrade to schedule automatic reports. |
| White-label report branding | Pro | This feature requires the Pro plan. Your account is on <Plan>. Upgrade to unlock it. |
| Get recommendations on a result | Pro | AI recommendations are available on the Pro plan and above. Your account is on <Plan>. Upgrade to turn any result into a step-by-step action plan. |
| AI recommendations allowance | Pro 100, Agency 400, Enterprise 2,000 per month | You've used all <N> AI recommendations on the <PLAN> plan this month. Your quota resets on <date> (<in N days>). Upgrade to get more right away. |
| REST API keys | Enterprise | This feature requires the Enterprise plan. Your account is on <Plan>. Upgrade to unlock it. Checked when a key is created and again on every API call |
| Hourly fair-use limit | All plans | 100 light-tool calls per clock hour, then Hourly fair-use limit reached (100 light-tool calls/hour)… |
Note: The invite refusal names Starter even when the account is on Free, because both plans carry a zero invite allowance. Confirm the real plan on the Account screen rather than reading it from that message.
The recommendations minimum plan and the per-plan recommendations allowance are configurable by an administrator, so a customer's figures can differ from the defaults above. Get Recommendations explains the feature and Runtime configuration the controls.
Published allowances#
These figures describe what a plan entitles you to. With one exception they are not checked automatically today, so the interface will not stop you at the number. Treat them as the agreed shape of the plan: stay inside them, and talk to us before planning work that exceeds one.
The exception is premium AI models, which are enforced: Agency and above run the AI features on Claude Opus and lower plans run them on the standard model, with nothing blocked either way. See AI models used across the platform.
| Allowance | Free | Pro | Agency | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Blog websites | 0 | 1 | 10 | Unlimited |

| Monitored competitor URLs | 0 | 25 | 150 | Unlimited |

Support and service commitments are also published rather than enforced by software: priority support from Agency, a dedicated account manager and an uptime SLA from Enterprise, and DPA, security review, data residency and dedicated infrastructure on a Custom agreement only.
SSO and SAML are available on request under a Custom agreement only. They are not part of any self-serve plan and are not something a customer can switch on. See Enterprise and custom agreements.
Included on every paid plan#
These need a paid plan of some kind but no particular tier.
| Capability | Notes |
|---|---|
| All tools that cost credits | Access is never tiered by tool. Plans differ in credit volume, seats and workspaces |
| Unlimited light tools | Tools costing 1 credit keep running after the premium allowance is spent |
| Analyst AI | 1 credit per message |
| Auto-Execute and the six workflows | Charged as the sum of the tools they fire |
| Growth Actions | 3 credits, and it does not charge when it has no source results to read |
| Saved work, exports and public share links | Free to use; saved work is kept 90 days |
| Google Search Console, social publishing and the Chrome extension | Connected per account. See How integrations work |
Included on every plan, including Free#
| Capability | Notes |
|---|---|
| The ten technical SEO tools | 0 credits, on every plan, with no monthly cap beyond the hourly fair-use limit |
| The public tools at metricvaultai.com/free-tools | No account required at all. See Free tools |
| Browser-only tools | Image Resize, Image Reformat, Live Writing Editor, GEO Content Scorer and Image Support run in your browser |
| Website responsiveness analysis | Not credit-metered |
| Localization | Not credit-metered; limited to 100 strings and 20,000 characters per request |
| The interface in six languages | See Changing the language |
Note: Site Audit is not included on Free, though people expect it to be. It costs 1 credit, and a Free account cannot run any tool that costs credits. What a Free account can run is the ten technical SEO tools listed in Credit cost table. The pricing page's Free card used to sell "Site Audit crawl: issues, status codes & Core Web Vitals" by name. That copy was corrected, and tests/pricing-truth.mjs now fails if the Free card, or the Free section of an article, names a tool that costs credits.
Account states that override the plan#
| State | Effect | What the customer sees |
|---|---|---|
| Suspended | Every tool that costs credits is refused, and so are recommendations. Billing is not stopped and the subscription is not cancelled | This account is suspended. Please contact support. |
| Plan lookup unavailable | The gate fails closed, so nothing runs and nothing is charged | Plan check temporarily unavailable, please retry. |
| Usage lookup unavailable | The gate fails closed, so nothing runs and nothing is charged | Usage check temporarily unavailable, please retry. |
A small number of internal test accounts resolve to an unlimited tier and bypass both the monthly allowance and the hourly limit. They are not customers and never appear in customer-facing figures.
What plan a customer is actually on#
One source decides it, and it is not the pricing page or the subscription state in Stripe on its own. In order of precedence: an internal override, then the plan recorded for that email address, then Free. A checkout writes that record through the billing webhook, and an administrator can set it by hand. If a customer has paid and the app still shows Free, the record is what to check.
See Plans and pricing for the full model, My plan did not update after paying for the symptom, and Customer lookup and billing for the administrator's view.
