Bulk Analysis

Runs one premium report across a list of domains or keywords and lines the results up side by side, so you can rank a competitive set or a keyword list on the same metrics in a single pass.

Last updated 2026-09-13

Summary#

Bulk Analysis takes one of five premium reports, runs it once per line against a list you paste, and renders every line side by side on the same metrics. Four of the reports take domains and produce a comparison dashboard. Keyword Overview takes keywords and produces a sortable keyword table. It is a batch runner, not a separate data source, which means it charges the selected report's credit cost once per line.

Purpose#

Comparing a competitive set one domain at a time is slow and, worse, inconsistent: by the time you reach the fifth domain the first one was run with different filters, or you have simply lost the first one's numbers.

Bulk Analysis exists to make the comparison itself the deliverable. Same report, same country, same range, same moment, every domain — so the ranking you draw from it is real rather than an artefact of when you happened to run each one.

Overview#

You pick a report from the TOOL dropdown, paste domains into the text area one per line, and click Run Bulk. The text area, the card description and the Domains stat follow the dropdown: select Keyword Overview and all three switch to keywords, because that report takes keywords rather than domains. The limit of ten lines is the same either way. The tool then runs the selected report against each line in turn, showing a live progress row per line that moves from QUEUED to RUNNING to OK or FAILED, and the results dialog opens as soon as the run starts.

When the queue finishes, the progress strip is replaced by the results:

  • Domain reports show a comparison dashboard: totals, per-metric comparison charts, a bubble chart and a sortable card per domain.
  • Keyword Overview shows a keyword table with one row per keyword: monthly searches, KD, CPC, intent and whether Google shows a local pack. Every column sorts. A keyword that failed stays in the table as a failed row with a Retry button.

Because each line is a full run of the underlying report, everything that applies to that report applies here: its cache, its credit cost, and its saved results.

Bulk Analysis shares a tab strip with Keyword Overview: the tabs Keyword Overview and Bulk Analysis appear at the top of both screens.

Benefits#

  • One consistent comparison instead of several disconnected runs.
  • Live per-line progress, so a slow or failing line is visible immediately rather than at the end.
  • Failures are isolated: one line that errors does not lose the rest of the batch, and a failed keyword can be retried on its own.
  • The domain dashboard sorts by authority, traffic, keywords or backlinks, and the keyword table sorts by any column, with one click.
  • Export the results as CSV, Excel, PDF or JSON from the export row.
  • A keyword run is saved to the Library as one item that reopens as the same table.

Use Cases#

Sizing a competitive set. You have eight rivals and need to know who is actually big. Run Domain Overview across all eight and sort by authority.

Qualifying a prospect list. An agency shortlist of potential clients, ranked by organic traffic, in one pass.

Backlink benchmarking. Run Backlink Profile across your set to see where your referring-domain count really sits.

Auditing an acquisition list. Compare candidate domains on the same authority and traffic metrics before anyone talks about price.

Comparing keyword targets. Run Keyword Overview across a list of keywords, sort by monthly searches or KD, and see which ones show a local pack before you decide where to build a page.

Requirements#

  • A signed-in account.
  • A paid plan — every report in the dropdown costs credits.
  • Enough credits for the whole batch. The cost is the report's cost multiplied by the number of lines.
  • Nothing else: no integration, no verified domain.

Permissions#

Any workspace member on a paid plan can run it. On Free, the first line is refused with the paid-plan message and nothing else runs. If the workspace runs out of credits mid-batch, the remaining lines fail and are marked FAILED in the progress list; the lines already completed keep their results.

Cost#

The selected report's cost, charged once per line. There is no batch discount and no shared call. A line is charged when its result is delivered.

TOOL selectionCredits per line5 lines10 lines

The run button reads Run Bulk · 6 reports, which is the per-domain cost of the default selection, not the cost of the batch. Count your lines before you click. Reports costing 3 or more are also metered against your monthly quota — see How credits work and Quotas and rate limits.

The keyword table's local pack column costs nothing extra: Keyword Overview already reads the Google results page for each keyword.

Retry on a failed keyword is an ordinary run of that keyword and costs the same 3 credits when it delivers. A keyword you have already run with the same settings offers its saved result first, and opening the saved result is free.

The hero card describes the tool as handling up to 20 domains; the run itself processes the first 10 lines. Plan around 10.

Step-by-Step Guide#

  1. Open Home and choose Bulk Analysis.
  2. Choose the report you want in the TOOL dropdown.
  3. Clear the pre-filled sample domains and paste your own, one per line.
  4. Multiply the per-line cost by your line count and confirm you have the credits.
  5. Click Run Bulk. (Try sample only fills the text area; Run with Sample fills it and runs, which spends credits.) The results dialog opens with the progress rows in it.
  6. Watch the progress rows move through QUEUEDRUNNINGOK or FAILED, with a running count in the status line above.
  7. When the status line reads Done · N/N succeeded, read the results in the dialog. If you closed it, click View results under the input box.
  8. Sort by the metric you care about and export.
  9. For a keyword run, click Retry on any failed row to run that keyword again.

Reading the Results#

The report header. A purple banner carrying BULK ANALYSIS, a VERIFIED · DATAFORSEO badge, the run timestamp, and a line reading <report> · N domains · <country> · <device> · <range>. Check that line first — it is your record of exactly what was compared.

The progress strip. Present only while the batch runs. Each row shows the line's favicon, its name and a status chip. FAILED means that line's report errored, commonly no data for it, or the quota ran out partway. The status line beneath counts errors as they happen.

The keyword table (Keyword Overview)#

A keyword run ends in a Keyword comparison table with a count of how many keywords succeeded, and one row per keyword in the order you pasted them.

ColumnReadsNotes
KeywordThe line you pasted
Monthly searchesMonthly search volumeThe same figure Keyword Overview shows for that keyword
KDKeyword difficulty, out of 100
CPCAverage cost per click in dollars
IntentThe search intent Keyword Overview reports
Local packYes when Google shows a map pack for the keyword, No when it does notRead from the same results page Keyword Overview fetches

A cell reading No data means the provider did not return that figure. It is not zero, and it sorts after the real values whichever way the column is sorted. Local pack reads No data when the results page itself came back empty.

Click a column heading to sort by it; click it again to reverse. Failed rows always stay at the bottom. A failed row shows Failed, the reason, and a Retry button. When the retry delivers, the row fills in, the status line recounts, and the saved Library item updates.

The domain dashboard (every other report)#

The summary tiles. Four totals across the batch:

TileReadsHow to use it
TOTAL DOMAINSHow many returned dataIf this is lower than your line count, some domains failed
AVG AUTHORITYMean authority, with median N · range N-N underneathThe median and range matter more than the mean — a single giant skews the average
TOTAL EST. TRAFFICCombined estimated monthly organic visitsThe size of the market you are comparing inside
TOTAL KEYWORDSCombined ranking keywordsBreadth of the set

The comparison charts. Up to four bars-style panels, each ranking every domain on one metric: Authority comparison (higher is stronger), Traffic comparison (estimated organic visits), Keywords comparison (total tracked keywords) and Backlinks comparison (real link counts). These are the fastest read on the page. A domain that leads on authority but trails on traffic is coasting on old links; the reverse means it is winning on content and is the more dangerous competitor.

Keywords vs Backlinks landscape. A bubble chart on logarithmic axes: keywords across, backlinks up, bubble size scaled by traffic. Read it as a map. Top-right is established and hard to displace. Bottom-right — many keywords, few links — is a content-led site you can beat with links. Top-left — many links, few keywords — is a site with authority it is not using, which is where you take keywords from.

Sort by chips. Authority, Traffic, Keywords, Backlinks. Re-orders the domain cards without re-running anything.

The domain cards. One card per domain with that report's own metric set: authority, estimated traffic, ranking keywords, backlinks, referring domains and paid traffic, with a trend percentage where the report returned a traffic history. A card shows only the metrics its report actually returned. A blank field means no data, not zero.

What to do with it. Pick the metric that matches your goal, sort by it, and take the top two or three into a single-domain tool for depth: Domain Overview for the full picture, Backlink Profile for links, Competitor Battle for a head-to-head.

Saved runs in the Library#

A keyword run is saved to the Library as one item named Bulk keyword run · N keywords, under Keyword & Content Research. Opening it shows the same keyword table, sortable, and uses no credits. Retry is not offered there, because a retry is a paid run; run the list again from Bulk Analysis.

Each keyword is also kept on its own behind the scenes, so running one of those keywords again with the same settings still offers the saved result for free. Those per-keyword copies do not appear as separate Library items.

Domain runs are saved per domain, as before, and reopen from their data.

Keyword runs saved before the table existed were stored as one Library item per keyword. Opening one now shows that keyword in the same table. If the saved item has no keyword figures, the Library says it was saved before bulk results were supported instead of showing a frozen progress card.

Examples#

Example

Example: You select Domain Overview and paste four project-management domains. The button still reads Run Bulk · 6 reports, but four domains at 6 credits each costs 24. The batch finishes Done · 4/4 succeeded. Average authority is 71 with a median of 68 and a range of 54–89. The bubble chart puts one rival bottom-right — 210,000 keywords on only 90,000 backlinks — so it is outranking the set on content, not authority. You take that domain into Gap Finder next.

Example

Example: You select Keyword Overview and paste ten home services keywords for Cape Coral. The run costs 30 credits and finishes Done · 9/10 succeeded. You sort by Monthly searches, see that the three biggest keywords all show Yes under Local pack, and click Retry on the one failed row, which costs 3 more credits. You export the table to Excel, and the Library now holds Bulk keyword run · 10 keywords.

Tips#

  • Start with Traffic Analytics at 1 credit per domain to shortlist, then re-run the shortlist on Domain Overview at 6.
  • Delete the sample domains before running. It is easy to spend 30 credits on Shopify and Stripe by accident.
  • Keep the country and range fixed across comparisons you intend to place side by side later.
  • If a domain fails, run it alone in its own tool; the error message there is more specific. A failed keyword can be retried straight from its row.
  • Sort the keyword table by Local pack to separate map pack keywords from the rest before planning pages.

Best Practices#

  • Count lines and multiply before clicking. This is the single most expensive screen in this section.
  • Compare like with like: one report, one country, one range.
  • Use the median and range under AVG AUTHORITY rather than the mean when the set contains one dominant player.
  • Export the comparison as soon as it finishes if it is going into a client document — that fixes the numbers to a timestamp.

Common Mistakes#

  • Reading Run Bulk · 6 reports as the batch price. It is per line.
  • Pasting more than 10 lines. Lines 11 and beyond are not run, and the status line says how many were left out.
  • Clicking "Run with Sample" to see what happens. It runs the sample list and charges for it. Try sample is the safe one — it only fills the box.
  • Treating No data or a blank metric as zero. It means that report did not return that figure for that line.

Limitations#

  • The batch processes the first 10 lines only.
  • Five reports are available in the dropdown; other tools cannot be batched here.
  • Lines run one after another, not in parallel, so a ten-line batch takes minutes. The Run Time stat on the tool estimates the wait for the report you picked and updates as you type, so check it before starting a long run.
  • Roughly what to expect per line, measured from real runs: about 20 seconds for Keyword Overview, Domain Overview and Advertising Research, about 30 for Backlink Profile, and about 45 for Traffic Analytics. Ten keywords through Keyword Overview is therefore about three and a half minutes, not thirty seconds.
  • Google Ads allows 12 live requests a minute, shared by every Metric Vault account. A keyword run asks Google Ads for all the keywords still to run in one request per market, so ten keywords use three Google Ads requests instead of thirty and stay under that limit. It is not slower and costs nothing extra. In a minute when other accounts are using the same allowance, a keyword can still be refused; it then shows the 12-month average volume and the Labs CPC, the same fallback a single Keyword Overview run uses.
  • Retry exists for keywords only. A FAILED domain has to be run again.
  • A retry runs one keyword at a time; start the next one when the first lands.
  • If a line has been run before with the same settings, that line's run may show the "You already ran this" prompt, which pauses the batch until you answer it. Closing that prompt skips the keyword, and its row says so.
  • The comparison is a snapshot. Re-running later produces a different comparison, not a trend.

FAQs#

Does Bulk Analysis cost less per line than running the report individually? No. It runs the same report once per line at the same price. What it saves is your time and the consistency of the comparison.

Why does the button say 6 reports when I have ten domains? The label shows the per-domain cost of the default report. The batch cost is that number times the number of lines.

Can I batch a tool that is not in the dropdown? Not from this screen. The dropdown lists the five reports that produce comparable per-line metrics.

What happens if I close the tab mid-batch? The lines already sent continue on the server and their results are saved, but the results are not rebuilt on the page and a keyword run is not saved as a Library item. Re-open and re-run; keywords that finished offer their saved result for free.

Can I use keywords instead of domains? Yes, if you select Keyword Overview. Put one keyword per line; the text area placeholder and the card copy change to say so when you pick it. Every other report in the dropdown expects domains.

Where is my keyword run saved? In the Library, as one item named Bulk keyword run · N keywords. It reopens as the keyword table.

Does the local pack column cost extra? No. It comes from the Google results page Keyword Overview already fetches for each keyword.

Is a cached domain still charged? Yes. A shared-cache hit avoids the provider call but the credit is still deducted — see Result caching and freshness. Opening your own saved result from the "You already ran this" prompt is free.
