Content Repurposer

Turns one article URL or topic into eight copy-ready channel formats — X thread, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, email, YouTube script and podcast outline.

Last updated 2026-08-06

Summary#

Content Repurposer takes one article URL or topic and writes eight ready-to-publish formats from it: an X thread, a LinkedIn post, a Facebook post, an Instagram caption, a Reddit post, an email newsletter, a YouTube script and a podcast outline. Its internal tool id is content_repurpose.

Purpose#

Most teams publish an article and then stop. The article is the expensive part; the distribution is where the return is, and it is the part that gets skipped because eight channels means eight rewrites and eight different sets of rules.

This tool exists to remove that cost. The decision it supports is simple: which channels this piece goes to next, and in what words — answered in one run instead of an afternoon.

Overview#

You give it one thing: the URL of an article you published, or a topic.

Metric Vault first grounds the run in real search data. It pulls keyword suggestions around your input, reads the live Google top 30 for it, and measures keyword difficulty. When you pass a genuine URL it also fetches and parses that page, so the rewrite works from your actual copy rather than a guess at what you wrote.

That context goes to the language model with a strict format specification — character limits, hashtag counts, thread length, timestamps — and the model returns all eight formats as structured data. The screen then renders each one as its own card with a Copy button.

Nothing here is a template with your keyword dropped in. Each format is written to the shape its platform rewards: a Reddit post that reads value-first, a LinkedIn post with a hook and a call to action, a YouTube script broken into timed sections.

Benefits#

  • Eight channels from one input, in a single run.
  • Every card has its own Copy button, so publishing is copy and paste.
  • Format rules are enforced by the prompt: thread tweets stay under 270 characters, the email subject stays between 40 and 60.
  • Hashtags come pre-written per platform — five for LinkedIn, three for Facebook, ten for Instagram.
  • The run is grounded in the live SERP for your topic, and in your real page when you supply a URL.
  • Costs 1 credit, which keeps it below the monthly premium-report threshold.

Use Cases#

Launching an article properly. You published this morning and want the distribution done before lunch — one run gives you every post you need.

Feeding a social calendar. The thread, the LinkedIn post and the Instagram caption go straight into scheduling, which frees the week's slots.

Turning a written piece into video or audio. The YouTube script arrives with a hook, a thumbnail concept and timed sections; the podcast outline arrives with talking points and guest questions.

Reviving an old post. An article from last year still earns traffic but has never been shared — repurpose it rather than write something new.

Briefing a freelancer or a junior. Hand over the eight cards as the shape of the campaign instead of describing it.

Requirements#

  • A signed-in account.
  • A paid plan. The run costs 1 credit, and any cost above zero is refused on Free.
  • Available credits and hourly headroom.
  • No integration and no verified domain. A URL is optional — a topic works.

Permissions#

Any workspace member on a paid plan can run it. A Free account is refused with This tool needs a paid plan. Free includes the 10 technical SEO tools; upgrade to Pro to unlock the rest. Signed-out visitors see Please sign in to run this tool. in the result area.

Cost#

1 credit per run. That is below the premium threshold of 3, so this tool is never blocked by your monthly quota — only by the hourly fair-use limit of 100 light-tool calls per hour.

Content Repurposer is not served from the shared cross-customer cache, so every run generates fresh copy. If you have run the same input before, the You already ran this prompt offers Open saved result, Run fresh (1 credit) or Cancel — opening the saved result costs nothing. The three step cards under the input — STEP 1 Drop in an article URL, STEP 2 AI rewrites for every channel, STEP 3 Copy-ready posts in seconds — are guidance, not controls.

Step-by-Step Guide#

  1. Open Write & Optimize and choose Content Repurposer.
  2. Paste your article URL, or type a topic, into the field marked e.g. your article URL or a topic.
  3. Click Repurpose · 1 report, or press Enter.
  4. Wait for Analyzing… this can take a few seconds for live data. to clear.
  5. Read Core Message first — if it is wrong, the eight formats will be wrong too, so re-run with a more specific input.
  6. Work down the format cards and click Copy on each one you want. The button reads Copied for a moment, then returns.
  7. Export the whole set with Export PDF, Export Excel, Export CSV, Export JSON or Share public link at the top of the card.

Reading the Results#

The header. Your source URL or topic, a Content Repurposer verified chip and Generated just now.

Core Message. One sentence: the single most compelling idea in your source. Read this before anything else. It is the claim every one of the eight formats is built on, so if it misreads your article, stop and re-run rather than editing eight posts.

Content Summary120-word brief. A Summary card with its own Copy button. Use it as the description when you share the piece internally, or as the excerpt on a listing page.

Ready-to-Publish Formats. The section header shows how many channels came back. Then one card per format, each with a Copy button that copies the whole thing in a publishable shape.

  • Twitter / X Thread — a badge showing the tweet count, then numbered rows. Tweet 1 is the hook and the last is the call to action. Every tweet is written under 270 characters, which leaves room for a link. Copying takes the thread with blank lines between tweets. Check the hook does what a hook must: if it reads like a summary rather than a claim, rewrite that one line.
  • LinkedIn Post — 600 to 900 characters, hook then value then call to action, with five hashtag chips beneath. Longer than the other social formats on purpose.
  • Facebook Post — 300 to 500 characters with three hashtags.
  • Instagram Caption — 250 to 400 characters with line breaks, and ten hashtags. Emoji appear here because the format asks for them; the other cards do not use them.
  • Reddit Post — a title of 80 to 100 characters, a 400 to 700 character body written conversationally, and three suggested subreddits as r/… chips. Treat the subreddits as a starting list, not a green light: read each one's rules before posting.
  • Email NewsletterSubject (40 to 60 characters), Preheader (90 to 120) and an 800 to 1,200 character body. Copying takes it as Subject: … / Preheader: … / body, ready to paste into your sending tool.
  • YouTube Script — a 60 to 70 character title, a one-sentence Thumbnail concept, a Hook — line covering the first fifteen seconds, then five timed sections. Each section shows its name, a timestamp chip such as 0:00-0:30, and its talking points. The structure runs hook, three content blocks, then a CTA block at the end.
  • Podcast Outline — an episode title, a Cold open — line, seven numbered talking points and three Q guest questions.

When the run finds nothing. If no formats and no summary came back, the screen shows No repurposed content was generated for <your input>. Try a specific article URL or a clear topic to repurpose. That is an honest empty state, not a rendering failure — re-run with a sharper input.

What to do with it. Publish the thread and the LinkedIn post the same day the article goes live, schedule the Facebook and Instagram versions across the following week, and hold the email for your next send. Review every card before posting: this is generated copy about your work, and your name goes on it.

Examples#

Example

Example: You paste yourblog.com/meal-prep-guide. The tiles read Formats Ready 8/8, Thread Length 7, Total Hashtags 18, Total Words 1.4K. Core Message reads "Batch cooking fails because people plan meals instead of planning ingredients." The X thread opens on that claim; the Reddit card suggests r/MealPrepSunday, r/EatCheapAndHealthy and r/Cooking; the email subject is "The meal-prep mistake costing you Sunday". You copy the thread and the LinkedIn post, schedule the Instagram caption for Thursday, and drop the YouTube script into next month's filming list.

Tips#

  • A URL beats a topic. With a URL the page is fetched and the rewrite uses your actual copy.
  • Read Core Message first. It is the fastest quality check on the whole run.
  • Copy from the card, not from a selection. The Copy button rebuilds each format in its publishable shape, including the email's subject and preheader lines.
  • Export JSON if you are feeding a scheduler; export PDF if you are sending the campaign to a client for sign-off.

Best Practices#

  • Run it the day the article is published, while the topic is live.
  • Edit the hook of every format. One line of your own voice makes generated copy read as yours.
  • Check the suggested subreddits against each community's posting rules before you post anything.
  • Save the piece into My Content so the distribution set stays with the article.
  • Optimize before you repurpose: run Content Optimizer on the page first, so you are amplifying a page that is worth the traffic.

Common Mistakes#

  • Posting all eight formats unedited. They are drafts of a high standard, not finished copy with your voice in them.
  • Entering a domain instead of an article. yourblog.com gives the model a brand to write about, not a piece to repurpose.
  • Ignoring platform rules, particularly on Reddit, where a promotional post in the wrong subreddit is removed.
  • Re-running for small edits. Each run is a fresh credit; edit the card instead.

Limitations#

  • Eight formats, fixed. You cannot choose a subset or add a channel.
  • TikTok, Threads, Pinterest and X long-form are not among them.
  • It writes copy; it does not publish. Use Social Composer or Publish Integrations for that.
  • It produces no images, thumbnails or video — the YouTube card describes a thumbnail concept in words only.
  • Character targets are instructions to the model, not hard truncation. Check anything you paste into a strict field.
  • The Get recommendations panel does not appear on this tool's results; there is no recommendation rule for it.
  • Suggested subreddits are generated, not verified against live subreddit rules or subscriber counts.

FAQs#

Does it need a URL, or will a topic do? Either works. A URL is better: the page is fetched and parsed, so the eight formats are written from your real copy instead of the model's idea of the topic.

Can I choose which formats to generate? No. All eight are produced every run at the same 1-credit cost. Copy the ones you want and ignore the rest.

Is the copy unique, or is it a template? It is generated per run against your input and the live search results for it. Two different articles produce genuinely different threads. It is still generated copy — edit it before it carries your name.

Why does it cost 1 credit when Keyword Overview costs 3? Credits track backend cost. This tool makes a small set of grounding calls plus one language-model call. See How credits work and Credit cost table.

Will running it twice give me different posts? Yes. There is no cross-customer cache on this tool, so a fresh run generates fresh copy — and charges another credit. If you only want to look again, use Open saved result.

Can I schedule these straight from here? Not from this screen. Copy the format you want into Social Composer or Social Dashboard to schedule or publish it.
