Content Dashboard
The hub for the Write & Optimize section — one command bar that routes a keyword, topic or URL into the right content tool, already filled in and running.
Last updated 2026-08-06
Summary#
Content Dashboard is the landing screen for Write & Optimize. It is a router, not a report: you drop a keyword, topic or URL into one bar, choose a tool, and it opens that tool with your input already filled in and the run already started.
Purpose#
The Write & Optimize section holds a dozen tools. When you arrive with a topic in your head, the slowest part is deciding which tool it belongs in and retyping the input once you get there.
This screen exists to remove that step. It answers "where does this go?" for you and hands the work straight to the right tool. It also gives the section an entry point that is not a blank tool page.
Overview#
Nothing on this screen makes a provider call of its own. Everything it does is navigation:
- The Quick Content Action bar takes one input plus a tool choice, opens that tool's view, copies your input into its field and clicks its run button.
- The Content Tools grid is seven cards; clicking a card opens that tool without running anything.
- The Start Here cards are three pre-written quick-starts that route and run with a worked example already typed in.
Because the routed tool runs immediately, the credits belong to that tool, not to this screen. All seven routed tools cost 1 credit or nothing.
Benefits#
- One input serves seven tools, so you type your topic once.
- The routing is decided for you, which matters when you are new to the section.
- The quick-starts give you a working example without inventing a query.
- Opening a tool from a card costs nothing — only the command bar and the quick-starts run.
Use Cases#
Starting a piece of content from nothing. Type the topic, pick SEO Brief Generator, and the brief is generating before you have finished reading the screen.
Learning the section. The Content Tools grid names all seven tools with a one-line description and a realistic run time.
Trying the section without a real project. The three Start Here cards run a genuine tool against a genuine query, so you see a real result.
Jumping back to saved work. The Open My Content button and the My Content card both go to your saved library without running anything.
Requirements#
- A signed-in account.
- A paid plan for anything the command bar launches, since every routed tool except
My Contentcosts at least 1 credit and no cost above zero runs on Free. - Available credits and hourly headroom for the tool being launched.
- Nothing to connect and no verified domain.
Permissions#
Any workspace member can open this screen. What happens next is governed by the tool it routes to: a Free account reaches the tool and is refused there with This tool needs a paid plan. Free includes the 10 technical SEO tools; upgrade to Pro to unlock the rest. A signed-out visitor sees Please sign in to run this tool. in the target tool's result area.
Cost#
The Content Dashboard itself costs nothing. It has no tool id and never calls a provider.
What it launches does cost. Every tool reachable from the command bar and the quick-starts costs 1 credit per run — Content Optimizer, AI Article Generator, SEO Brief Generator, Content Repurposer, Topic Map and Content Template. My Content costs nothing and does not run.
One exception is worth knowing: AI Article Generator runs whichever of its four tabs is currently active, which is the SEO Brief tab by default. If you had previously left it on Content Gap Analysis, the routed run costs 3 credits instead of 1. See AI Article Generator.
Because 1 credit is below the 5-credit confirmation threshold, no confirmation dialog appears — pressing Start or Try this charges immediately. See How credits work and Credit cost table.
Navigation Path#
Dashboard → Write & Optimize → Content Dashboard
It is the first row in the Write & Optimize panel, so clicking the rail icon lands here by default.
Inputs#
| Field | Accepts | Required | Default | Validation | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
e.g. nike.com or a topic | A keyword, a topic or a domain/URL | For Start, yes in practice | Empty | Not validated here; the target tool shows Enter a value first. if it arrives empty | Whatever you type is copied verbatim into the target tool's first field |
| Tool selector | Content Optimizer, AI Article Generator, SEO Brief Generator, Content Repurposer, Topic Map, Content Template, My Content | Yes | Content Optimizer | — | My Content opens the library without running |
TRY: chips | paypal.com, AI SEO trends 2026, sustainable fashion | No | — | — | Example queries you can copy into the bar |
Refresh Stats | — | No | — | — | Shows the toast Content stats are up to date |
Open My Content | — | No | — | — | Opens My Content |
Step-by-Step Guide#
- Open
Write & Optimizein the rail. Content Dashboard opens by default. - Type your keyword, topic or URL into the field marked
e.g. nike.com or a topic. - Choose the destination from the dropdown next to it.
- Click Start. The app switches to that tool, fills the field and runs it.
- Read the result on the tool's own screen — this screen does not display results.
To open a tool without running it, click its card in Content Tools instead. To run a worked example, click Try this on one of the three Start Here cards.
Reading the Results#
This screen produces no report of its own. What it shows is status and routing, in five blocks.
The hero. Two badges, CONTENT COMMAND CENTER and PRO, above the heading Your content, in command. The greeting line and the Last analyzed chip beneath the buttons are static placeholder text; they do not yet reflect your account or your last run. Read past them.
Content Overview — Updated live. Four tiles: Content Pieces, Articles, Briefs Created and Avg SEO Score. These are placeholders in the current build and show 0 or — with prompt text such as Save your first piece to grow and Generate one in 90 seconds. They are not yet wired to your saved work. For real counts of what you have produced, use My Content or Saved Work. Refresh Stats confirms with a toast but does not change these numbers.
Quick Content Action — ~30s avg. The working part of the screen. The heading reads Launch any tool with one input, and the line under it explains the behavior exactly: Drop a keyword, topic, or URL · choose a tool · we route + prefill for you. Pressing Start navigates, waits a moment for the target view to appear, writes your value into its first input and clicks its run button. There is no confirmation step, so treat Start as "spend a credit now".
Content Tools — 7 tools · click any card. One card per tool, each with a badge where one applies, an estimated run time and a one-line description:
| Card | Badge | Time | What it says |
|---|---|---|---|
AI Article Generator | 4 IN 1 | 90s | 4 long-form tools in one: SEO Brief, Outline, Full Article, Content Gap. |
SEO Brief Generator | — | 45s | Comprehensive writer brief from keyword to outline. |
Content Optimizer | POPULAR | 30s | Score any page vs the top-10 and get specific edits. |
Content Repurposer | — | 40s | 1 article to 8 ready-to-publish formats. |
Topic Map | — | 25s | Find real subtopics, questions, and content ideas. |
Content Template | — | 30s | Real DataForSEO template aligned to top-10 outliers. |
My Content | — | instant | Saved library of briefs, articles, and pieces. |
Clicking a card opens the tool. It does not run it and does not charge you. The times are guidance, not guarantees.
Start Here — Empty-state assist. Three cards, introduced by No setup. Click a card — we prefill the right tool with a real query. Each names its example under a TRY: label and runs the real tool when you press Try this:
| Card | TRY: | Routes to | Costs |
|---|---|---|---|
Optimize a page | paypal.com | Content Optimizer | 1 credit |
Draft an SEO brief | AI SEO trends 2026 | SEO Brief | 1 credit |
Explore a topic | sustainable fashion | Topic Map | 1 credit |
The closing note. Once you run your first tool, this section becomes a live activity feed showing your last 8 runs — with one-click re-open. That feed is not part of the current build; your run history lives in Saved Work.
What to do with it. Use the command bar as your daily entry point and ignore the KPI tiles until they are wired. If you want counts and history today, keep My Content open alongside.
Examples#
Example: You have been asked to improve an existing pricing page. On the Content Dashboard you type example.com/pricing | pricing software into the command bar, leave the dropdown on Content Optimizer and press Start. The app switches to Content Optimizer, fills the field and runs it. One credit is charged, and about thirty seconds later you are reading an overall score, subscores and a prioritized fix list on that tool's screen — without having typed the input twice or chosen a tool from a list of twelve.

Tips#
- Use the
|separator when routing to Content Optimizer — it expectsURL | target keyword. - Click a card, not
Start, when you only want to look at a tool. - The
TRY:values on the Start Here cards are the actual queries that will run. Read them before pressingTry thisif you are watching your credits. - If a route lands on the tool but does not run, click that tool's own run button — your input is already in the field.
Best Practices#
- Pick the destination before you type. The same input behaves differently in Topic Map and Content Optimizer.
- Send a topic to
SEO Brief Generatorfirst, then take the brief into the writer. That is the order Content Engine uses. - Keep My Content as your record of what exists, since the tiles here do not yet count it.
- If you want the whole brief-to-article chain in one action instead of tool by tool, use Auto-Execute.
Common Mistakes#
- Treating
Startas a preview. It runs and charges immediately, with no confirmation at 1 credit. - Reading the KPI tiles as your real numbers. They are placeholders.
- Expecting results on this screen. Every result renders on the tool's own view.
- Routing a bare URL to Content Optimizer without a keyword. It needs the keyword after a
|to score anything meaningful.
Limitations#
- The four
Content Overviewtiles, the greeting line and theLast analyzedchip are static placeholders and do not reflect your account. Refresh Statsacknowledges with a toast but changes nothing.- The promised last-8-runs activity feed is not in the current build.
- The command bar reaches seven tools only. The rest of Write & Optimize — Meta Generator, Pre-Publish Trust Checks, Live Writing Editor, GEO Content Scorer, Localization, Publish Integrations and Editorial Workflow & Calendar — is reached from the sidebar.
- Routing always fires the target tool's run button, so there is no "open and fill without running" mode in the command bar.
Troubleshooting#
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
Nothing happens after Start | No tool selected, or the target view had not mounted | Wait a moment and press the tool's own run button |
The target tool shows Enter a value first. | The command bar was empty | Type a value and route again |
Please sign in to run this tool. | Signed out | Sign in, then re-route |
This tool needs a paid plan… | Free plan reaching a paid tool | Upgrade — see Plans and pricing |
Monthly limit reached — upgrade to continue. | Out of credits on the routed tool | See I ran out of credits |
KPI tiles stay at 0 and — | They are placeholders in this build | Use My Content for real counts |
Content stats are up to date toast but no change | Expected behavior of Refresh Stats | No action needed |
| A credit was spent unexpectedly | Start and Try this run immediately without confirmation | Open tools with the cards when you only want to look |
FAQs#
Does opening the Content Dashboard cost anything? No. It never calls a provider. Only the tools it launches cost credits, and each of those costs 1 credit.
Why did clicking Try this charge me? The Start Here cards run a real tool against the query shown under TRY:. That is the point of them — they produce a genuine result, not a mock-up.
Why do the Content Pieces and Articles tiles show nothing? They are placeholders in the current build and are not yet connected to your saved work. My Content and Saved Work hold the real record.
Which tool should I pick for a bare topic? Topic Map if you want the shape of the subject, SEO Brief Generator if you already know the page you intend to write. Both cost 1 credit.
Can I get back to a result I launched from here? Yes. Every run is saved, so it appears in Saved Work, and re-opening a saved result is free.
Is there a way to run several content tools in one go? Yes — Content Engine chains six of them, and Auto-Execute runs the brief-to-article pipeline end to end.
